The Classic Wine Library
These books are indispensable guides to the regions covered and their wines. They are designed to enlighten and entertain those serious about wine. The books are detailed enough to provide plenty of information – much of which is not available anywhere else – for anyone interested, working in or studying wine. All authors are experts in their subject. Many are Masters of Wine and all have years of experience in the wine industry.
Not only that, the whole series is curated by an editorial board. James Tidwell MS, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Richard Mayson are all well known in the wine industry and their expertise and opinions are widely respected. The books are uniquely authoritative: in a world of dubious information The Classic Wine Library is one resource serious wine lovers and professionals can really trust.
“I take my hat off to the editorial team curating The Classic Wine Library series… the content is rich in fact and detail, meticulously researched, and written with a sense of connection. They’re serious books… but accessible to the non-professional wine lover and very easily used as a wine travel guide.”

Port and the Douro (5th Edition)
Richard Mayson
-
‘The only book on port and the Douro worth having’
JancisRobinson.comRichard Mayson’s comprehensive classic Port and the Douro is now in its fifth edition. In the 25 years since the first edition was published there have been changes in the vineyard, the cellar and in the way the Port industry itself is organized. In this edition we encounter the world of Port as it enters a new period of flux, driven by climate change and the impact it is having on the region. Sustainability has become critical as growers and the industry seek to undo the mistakes of the past in order to make the vineyards and the trade fit for an increasingly unpredictable future. Yet Port continues to produce classic vintages – with those produced since the previous edition of the book being of a high standard. Consumer interest is shifting towards the premium Port categories, paticularly the tawny Ports, and the drink continues to fascinate wine-lovers.
