Our Story

Carrington Wine Merchants was founded in 2021 by Harshal Shah to offer clients the best experience of buying, storing, selling and enjoying wine. A respected wine business professional, internationally experienced sommelier, wine educator, wine judge and consultant with over 20 years of working experience in the wine trade, Harshal knows wine and knows how to choose wine to maximise your enjoyment.

Harshal is WSET®-qualified and was in the Master of Wine program. He studied Viticulture and Vineyard Management at the University of Sydney and sat on the board of the Sommeliers Association of Australia.

After five years of consulting for luxury hotels in India and contributing to 'Sommelier India,' wine magazine, he moved to Six Senses Luxury resorts in Thailand as their consultant sommelier. He moved to Ireland in 2016 and joined a fledgling wine importer as General Manager. There, he took the company to win Fine Wine Importer Of The Year in 2019 and 2020 after just 4 years of operation.

He branched out on his own after the COVID pandemic, seeing a gap in the market for highly personlised wine service to both private and trade clients.
